Cram a Single-Payer Health Care System Down My Throat, Please
I've lived in France, and seen first hand the efficiencies of their single-payer system.
Socialist? Hardly. They have more competition between providers, medical labs, and pharmacies than we have had for years.
Want a higher quality of service in France? Just buy a supplemental policy. Yes, rich folks and hypochondriacs, you too can do better than the rest of us by virtue of your cash in a single payer system.
Our current system looks like some sort of corporate communism compared with the free choice and low costs that the French system provides. We get little choice, every decision goes through "big brother" and our doctors are little more than government style bureaucrats.
Not to mention the permanent state of debt slavery that any member of society who exceeds their maximum payout, or even just has a serious medical issue, will end up in. Getting cancer makes all but the most fortunate into third class citizens here.
It's time to bite the bullet dear congressfolks, and use the right language to explain a single payer system for what it is: a liberating force for opening up true healthcare competition and freedom.
